County Fines and Warnings
- Baltimore County has very strict Code Enforcement. They inspect all neighborhoods randomly and look for any code violations. This is for your benefit to keep the neighborhoods looking good.
- Biggest violations they cite people for is not having trash inside trash cans with lids. They also look for junk and debris in yards, as well as high grass not being cut. Any vehicles that are inoperable or do not have current tags will be cited as well. If you were approved to have a dog, dog fecies must be cleaned up on a daily basis.
- Violations can be costly. Either a warning will be issued or Code Enforcement may go directly to a fine. They usually will not issue either unless they take pictures of violations. This is for the court hearing if it gets that far.
- If you get a warning, you must make sure you take care of the violation before compliance date listed. Call or text when corrected. Also it is always good to call the inspector and let inspector know violation has been corrected.
- If you get a fine, you will need to go to court. They usually reduce the fine if you show up and have a good excuse. If you do not show, you will owe the full fine. Again, it is always best to call the inspector and let inspector know when your house is in compliance.
- Excessive Code violations could lead to termination of rental agreement. Please keep up with your property.
